Grand Traverse Brewing Company’s Glen Lake IPA | Food

Bottoms up

Since moving to Traverse City and opening the Grand Traverse Brewing Company in 2018 – with over 20 years of brewing experience from the Pacific Northwest – Pete Bishop of Michigan has been quietly producing quality craft beer at a local manufacturing facility on Cass-Hartman Court in TC . Customers can attend tastings and a selection of pints, growlers, and kegs by appointment. But for those who can’t make it, several of Bishop’s brews are available in 16-ounce boys in local stores.

The Glen Lake IPA – with its eye-catching, psychedelic artwork of a bear based on Sleeping Bear Dunes – is hard to miss on the shelf. The American IPA should have notes of “floral citrus fruit, sun and fun, a beer that is soft and yet assertive with a diverse arrangement of six hop varieties”. With 6.2 percent ABV, the Glen Lake IPA has strong aromas, but remains spicy and easy to sip on the palette. It would be a great companion on an autumn hike or the last boat trip for the season; Bishop promises the beer is “almost as fun as a day at Glen Lake!”

Still relatively under the radar, Grand Traverse Brewing Company is an emerging player in the brewing scene. Find the Glen Lake IPA big boys and other brews at Tilley’s Party Store in Traverse City – where they come in single-dose and quad-packs – or other locations and information on GTBeer.com or on Instagram at @ GT.Beer.
