Grand Rapids area baseball teams eliminated in state tournament

Hudsonville and South Christian reached the state quarterfinals on Saturday after winning the regional championships.

But the Eagles and Sailors went no further as the Grand Rapids area’s two lone remaining baseball teams were both eliminated. Check out the full results below.


At Central Michigan University

The Midland Dow scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally 8–7 at Hudsonville. Dow will face Portage Central in the state semi-finals in Lansing at 9 a.m. on Thursday. Hudsonville reached the quarterfinals with a 9-1 win over OK Red Conference rivals Rockford and won a regional title. Dow defeated Zeeland West 9-8 in eight innings in the regional final. The Dux finished the season 33-9, with the 33 wins setting a school record.


With cold water

Grand Rapids Christian and South Christian were eliminated on Saturday. The Sailors knocked out Marshall 8-0 in the regional finals before losing 10-1 to Stevensville Lakeshore in the quarterfinals. Lakeshore defeated Christian 4-1 in the regional final.

With Alma

West Catholic’s season ended in the regional semifinals, losing to Gladwin 7-6.
