Eastbound M-6 closed in Kent County after semi jackknifes
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A freeway in Kent County is closed due to a jack-knifed semi as crews and drivers continue to contend with treacherous road conditions.
Eastbound M-6 after M-37, Broadmoor Avenue, is closed until further notice in Kent County due to a crash. At 2:11 pm on Saturday, Dec. 24, the Michigan Department of Transportation issued an alert stating that the freeway was closed in Kent County.
According to the Michigan State Police, Grand Rapids area troopers are currently responding to a jack-knifed semi on M-6 near 48th. MSP is reporting no injuries with this incident.
MSP is asking drivers to find an alternate route. No estimated reopening time is available.
Kent County officials are advising drivers to avoid traveling unless they have to. Drivers are advised to use extreme caution when traveling since roads are icy and hard-packed, officials said.
Low to zero visibility was reported on Christmas Eve morning in several rural areas in Kent County. Some areas have reported impassable conditions due to more than a foot of drifted snow on the road, officials said.
