MIGGY IN 2022: Cabrera – almost 3,000 hits – hungry for playoffs next year too

THE NEXT WAVE: Tiger’s Prospects Jackson Jobe, Izaac Pacheco: Goal is to be the new Tork and Greene

Tigers pitcher Wily Peralta works from the mound against the rays during the first inning on Sunday, September 19, 2021 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Probable starting mugs: Tigers RHP Wily Peralta (4-4, 3.08 ERA) versus White Sox RHP Lance Lynn (10-6, 2.72 ERA).

Game hints: Can the Tigers end the 2021 season on a good note? In Thursday’s 10-7 comeback win against the Twins in Minneapolis, they managed a four-game skid. The White Sox meanwhile have the playoffs on their minds; they are two games back from the Astros for home advantage in their ALDS matchup. (# 1 spot in the AL is occupied by the Tampa Bay Rays, who will face the wildcard game winner next week … according to the wildcard picture showing four teams playing two-two in three spots, will be cleaned up.)

BAD BLOOD: Why Tigers, White Sox stormed the field on Monday: “It wasn’t on purpose”

Lynn, today’s starter for the ChiSox, was, say, effectively wild in his two starts against the Tigers. In 12 innings, Lynn has 15 strikeouts and two allowed runs (both earned), but has also given up eight hits and seven walks. In the meantime, Friday will be Peralta’s first start against the Sox this season; he has a 0.00 ERA career at Guaranteed Rate Field, with four hits, three walks, and five strikeouts over six innings.
