Cold Tuesday night followed by hotter, cloudier Wednesday

DETROIT – Welcome to Tuesday night, Motown.

It will be mostly clear and cold tonight. It’s not getting as cold as this morning, but make sure your pets are inside and grab an extra blanket.

Tomorrow it will be light in the morning and grayer in the afternoon. Despite cloudy skies, temperatures will be higher and above average. These clouds will produce raindrops until tomorrow night and early Thanksgiving. A few snowflakes are possible as people shop for deals on Friday.

Tuesday night will be cool and mostly clear. Overnight lows will be in the middle and upper 20s.

In this week

On Wednesday there is sunshine in the morning and clouds in the afternoon. The wind blows in relatively mild air. We’ll continue to be in our jackets in high temperatures in our mid and upper 40s.

At dusk, occasional drizzles and light rain are possible.

More than a drizzle is likely on Thanksgiving Thursday. Some raindrops appear during turkey red, early Thanksgiving morning, and the start of the American Thanksgiving Parade.

Balloonists and parade spectators need their ponchos to stay dry. We have seen colder ceremonies. Thanksgiving morning will have temperatures above freezing, in the middle and upper 30’s.

At the end of the parade and when the Detroit Lions hit the Thanksgiving football field in downtown Detroit, there will be a lull in wet weather. On Thursday afternoon there were isolated showers with temperatures up to mid-40s.

Be careful on wet roads when driving home from Ford Field for Thanksgiving dinner, wherever that destination may be.

Some raindrops mixed with snowflakes late Thursday evening and early Friday morning. Some slippery spots will be present in remote areas on the early Friday of the trading day.

Shoppers will struggle with morning temperatures in their 20s and afternoon temperatures in their 30s as they make the rounds.

This weekend

Saturday is partly sunny to mostly cloudy and cold. The tailgating weather for the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game in Ann Arbor will be well below freezing; in the 20s.
