Chair of Kent County redistricting efforts confident court will uphold map amid gerrymandering claims

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Kent Apportionment Commission chairman is confident the courts will uphold their approved county commission card in a lawsuit alleging it was run in favor of the Republicans.

“All I would say is that every member of the commission took our responsibilities seriously,” said Kent County Attorney Chris Becker, who chaired the commission, on Wednesday November 24th. “We followed the law as it was written priorities set out in this law for guidance, and I am confident the court will uphold the plan presented.”
