The recruitment cycle for 2022 is underway. One of the bigger names for next year’s class, Joshua Burnham, will be posting his oral engagement live on CBS Sports HQ at 5 p.m. ET. Burnham, a four-star linebacker from Traverse City, Michigan, has Michigan, Notre Dame, Wisconsin among its finalists. Hailing from Central High School, Burnham is considered Michigan’s No. 2 prospect and No. 9 recruit outside the linebacker according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Despite being recruited as a linebacker, the 6-foot-4,215-pound Burnham has experience playing quarterback as well as running back. In his senior season, he was responsible for nearly 2,000 yards of attack and 30 touchdowns, while recording 61 tackles in defense. The multi-athlete is also an outstanding basketball player.
Although his Wolverines are strong in the state, Burnham sees most of the 247Sports crystal ball projections as a commitment to the Fighting Irish.
This is what Allen Trieu of 247Sports said in his scouting report on Burnham:
Very good, versatile soccer player and athlete in his size. Not only played linebacker but also tailback and quarterback and played those positions well. Also a good basketball player who shows jumping ability and athletic skills on the court. Runs well for a taller guy, can get to the spots on the field he needs to face tackles and has shown that as a runner on the offensive too. Smart, does proper readings and fills as a supporter, and size and strength make him a safe tackler.
