Traffic signal upgrade could slow traffic in Lansing
LANSING, MI — Upgrades to traffic signals at a busy Lansing intersection will make the streets safer, officials said.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is performing traffic signal upgrades from 6 am to 6 pm Sunday, May 15, at the I-96 Business Loop in Lansing.
The signals in question are located at the intersection of East Edgewood Boulevard and South Cedar Street.
The upgrades will take about 12 hours to install, according to MDOT officials.
The work will require shutting off the traffic signals and closing access to Edgewood Boulevard, officials said. Lane closures and traffic shifts are expected on Cedar Street.
Once completed, the upgrades will provide better signal operation, and make the intersection safer for motorists, officials said.
