The 2010s was a decade of basketball that most Detroit Pistons fans would love to forget. Between the 2010-11 and 2019-20 seasons, the Pistons had an overall record of 326-462. The franchise only ended up with 41 or more wins in one season twice. Her highest total winnings were 44 wins in the 2015/16 season.

Detroit also went through six head coaches during that period. John Küster had his last season as Pistons coach in the 2010-11 season. Over the next two seasons, Lawrence Frank led the team to two seasons under 30 wins. Maurice Cheeks made it to just 50 games in the 2013-14 season before being replaced by John Loyer for the remainder of the season.

Detroit Pistons: New coach, same mediocrity

Then came the Stan Van Gundy era. Van Gundy’s tenure saw Detroit’s first playoff appearance of the decade, but his squad would be swept in the first round by eventual NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers. Ultimately, Van Gundy’s teams would sink into mediocrity and the coach would be sacked after four seasons.

Dwane Casey has been hired to replace Van Gundy as the Pistons’ head coach. The former NBA Coach of the Year would make a playoff appearance in his first season in Detroit, an accomplishment he wouldn’t repeat in the 2019-20 season.

The 2010s was a painful decade for Pistons fans. The team was caught between terrible and mediocre. They never finished above the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and were swept in their two playoff appearances.

There haven’t been many bright spots for the pistons over the past decade. The team is better remembered for its lowlights than for its few successes. But despite all the team’s failures and disappointments, the players were able to have strong individual seasons every now and then.

Those strong seasons weren’t common in Detroit in the 2010s, but here are the top five single season performances of the 2010s.
