Detroit Red Wings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning – NHL (3/4/22) | Faceoff, How to Watch, Preview

The Detroit Red Wings are feeling good after a dramatic win against one of the NHL’s best. However, they have to quickly turn their attention to another one of the league’s best teams, as they head down to Florida to meet with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Wings hosted the Eastern Conference-leading Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, and certainly did not look like the underdog. Despite trailing 1-0 after the first period, Detroit was outshooting the Canes heading into Carter Rowney’s fourth goal of the season just past the halfway mark of the contest. After the team’s traded goals in the third, overtime was needed to determine a winner. In dying seconds of the extra period, star rookie Lucas Raymond banged in a rebound to give Detroit the 4-3 victory.

Raymond’s 16th goal of the season keeps him in the NHL rookie scoring lead, with 43 points this season. Moritz Seider picked up an assist on the winner, and is tied for eighth in assists by a defenseman this season.

For the first time since opening night, the Wings get to meet the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Tampa has since claimed the top spot in the Atlantic Division, using a six-game win streak to slide past the Florida Panthers. They trail the Hurricanes by three points for the top spot in the conference with one game in hand.

The first game of the season saw the two teams combine for 13 goals. Tyler Bertuzzi’s four-goal performance was not enough, as the Bolts pulled out a 7-6 victory, in overtime.
