Detroit Pistons, city to host family vaccination event on Saturday

This weekend, the Detroit Pistons will join the effort to vaccinate Detroiters.

The Pistons will partner with the City of Detroit on Saturday to host Family Inoculation Day at the Henry Ford Pistons Performance Center (6201 2nd Ave.) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Vaccine appointments can be made by calling 313-230-0505.

The Pfizer vaccine is being distributed by Henry Ford Health employees. Appointments can only be made for people over the age of 16. Appointments are also scheduled for the second dose three weeks later.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Detroit Pistons on this very special family vaccination day,” said Denise Fair, chief public health officer, in a statement It remains the best tool to slow the spread of COVID-19. ”

The event will also include free food, freebies, and performances by former Detroit Pistons Rick Mahorn (2:30 pm-4:30pm) and Earl Cureton (10 am-1:30pm).

“We are excited to support the city of Detroit in its efforts to get everyone vaccinated,” said Erika Swilley, vice president of community relations for Pistons, in a statement. “We’re here to help you raise awareness and encourage Detroiters to follow the lead many of our players, coaches and staff have already done: use this life-saving vaccine to help life go back to normal.”
