Ann Arbor Police pay tribute to a woman who risked her own safety to help the victim of the Briarwood Mall shooting

Ann Arbor Police this week honored a woman who risked her own safety to help a victim of a shooting at Briarwood Mall last month.

An 18-year-old was shot in the arm in Von Maur’s shop on April 16.

Police said Sarah Huber, a nurse, immediately started helping the victim, despite not knowing if the shooter was still around. She provided first aid and kept the victim calm until paramedics arrived.

Huber received the Civilian Valor Award.

Deputy bosses Jason Forsberg and Aimee Metzer visited Huber at work to present her with the award.
