1 person shot in Grand Rapids’ West Grand neighborhood

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Police Department says that a juvenile was shot Saturday night in Grand Rapids’ West Grand neighborhood.

It happened just after 10 pm on Alpine Avenue NW between 8th and 9th Street.

Upon arrival, police discovered a juvenile male with gunshot wounds. The boy was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and is in serious condition.

Police have identified a person of interest and are speaking with witnesses, according to Police Chief Eric Winstrom of the Grand Rapids Police Department.

There is no threat to the public, and the shooting is under investigation.
